Greetings Dolphin Nation,

I am proud to serve as the Principal of Wesley Lakes Elementary and to be part of the Dolphin Nation family. I bring 16 years of experience in education, having served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and an Assistant Principal. Throughout my career, I have been committed to building strong school communities, supporting teachers, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a Master of Science in English from Alcorn State University, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction from Mississippi College, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from William Carey University.

I believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their highest potential. My passion is creating a school culture where families, staff, and community work together to give our students the very best. I want everyone to know that my door is always open and that students, teachers, and families will be heard, valued, and respected.

I am excited to continue the strong traditions of Wesley Lakes while working together to take our school to the next level of excellence. As a Dolphin Nation family, we will celebrate our successes, overcome challenges with determination, and stay focused on our number one priority—accelerating student achievement for every child.

Respectfully,
Dr. Jamilla Martin

Every day is a great day to learn something new!

Greetings Dolphin Nation!

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your Assistant Principal here at Wesley Lakes Elementary School! I am honored to serve in this role at this wonderful school. I am enjoying getting to know the students and families in the Wesley Lakes community as we work together to make our school the best place to be. I desire to encourage, engage, and empower our school family toward success every day!

I am entering my 17th year in education. After gaining extensive experience as a classroom teacher and Instructional Coach, I transitioned into leadership to impact a broader population of students. I hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Georgia State University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Columbus State University, and a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia.

I believe all children can learn and will reach their full potential through high expectations, engaging environments, and positive role models. I aim to ensure that Wesley Lakes Elementary students are afforded this opportunity and receive a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, traveling, and cheering on my favorite sports teams.

Sincerely,
Nicole M. Smith
